Equipment
Petanque is not an overly complicated game with regards to equipment or facilities.

And remember as per the official rules of petanque.
Article 5, Area of play and terrain rules Pétanque is played on any surface.
So get out there and play a game!
Boules

You will need a set of three boules to play petanque.

They must be metal, hollow, between 650g - 800g and between 705mm and 800 mm.

A boule should fit in your hand so you can hold it comfortably with the thumb and forefinger just touching each other in a light grip.

Don't rush into buying boules. Play a while and become comfortable playing with club boules or whatever boules you have yourself.
Once you have decided that petanque is your game, then look for a set of competition boules. Ask fellow club members for advice or a loan on how to buy a set to suit your game and hand size.
Other Equipment
As well as a set of boules most players also look at obtaining the following.
-
a boule carrying bag,
-
a magnet on a string to pick up boules if you have difficulties reaching down ,
-
a game score recorder,
-
and a small tape measure (2-3m is ample)
